“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
― Howard Thurman
During our “off season” we spent a lot of time traveling, reflecting & trying to re shift our energy & craft in the direction we wanted to be going. With that, we took some time off from “shooting” and focused more inwardly (and to be honest on a lot of the business side of things we had been pushing off). At first, it was nice not to have thousands of photos to cull through and edit, but eventually we got to a place where we actually felt SAD not shooting. We’re not sure if it’s just the act of NOT shooting that made us feel sad or the feeling of missing working & sharing with our passion with people. The morning of John & Abby’s wedding we both woke up with fire in our hearts. We couldn’t wait to get back into weddings and just like that, we were in Skaneateles, photographing again and feeling our blood rush to our hearts.
and for the next 27 weeks, that’s just what we’ll be doing… BUT with a new sense of appreciation for our work. It’s a big part in what MAKES us come alive.
What makes you come alive?
Shaw Photography Co. | Skaneateles Wedding Photographers | Ceremony at First Baptist Church | Reception Held at Elderberry Pond Restaurant
The wedding season is officially here and we couldn’t be more excited. We started our season by photographing the wedding of the ever-so-sweetest John & Abby who flew in from Seattle to get married near Abby’s hometown. Their ceremony was held at the First Baptist Church in Skaneateles, NY followed by an intimate dinner reception at Elderberry Pond Restaurant in Auburn, NY.

John & Abby were the first wedding we photographed this year. They held an intimate wedding & reception in Skaneatles NY. The ceremony was held at the Skaneateles First Baptist Church with a reception that followed at the Elderberry Pond Restaurant. Elderberry Pond is a Certified Organic Farm & the Restaurant is located on the land, overlooking the Orchards. Abby and John opted for no bridal party which gave us extra time for Portraits with just the two of them. We ventured out to Skaneateles Lake, Loft 42 , and the Elderberry Pond Vineyards for portraits. John & Abby also asked us to experiment with some film for their portraits which you’ll see worked into our blog. We couldn’t be more thankful to start off our wedding season with such a lovely couple.
