Best Time of Year for Family Photos in Naples, FL
If you’re planning family photos in Naples, Florida, one of the first questions that comes up is: when is the best time of year to schedule them?
The good news is that Naples is a beautiful place for photos year-round. With its white sand beaches, warm Gulf waters, and soft coastal light, there’s really no “bad” time to be here. That said, the time of year you choose can have a big impact on your overall experience; from crowd levels and weather to sunset timing and how your session feels.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through what to expect during each season so you can choose a time that works best for your family and your trip.

Winter (December–February)
Winter is one of the most popular times for family photos in Naples, and for good reason. The weather is mild, the humidity is low, and the light is beautiful.
That said, it’s also one of the busiest times of year, especially during the holidays and spring break weeks. Beaches can be very crowded at sunset, which means planning ahead is important.
If you’re scheduling a sunset session during peak season:
- Plan to arrive early to secure parking
- Expect more people on the beach
- Be flexible with location if needed
Because of this, morning sessions can be a great alternative during the winter months. The beaches are quieter, parking is easier, and the overall experience feels much more relaxed.
Another great option during busy weeks is to keep things simple and photograph your session where you’re staying. If you’re at a beachfront property like the Edgewater or Four Seasons, doing your session on site removes a lot of moving parts.
Even if you’re staying off the beach, for example in North Naples, you could start your session at your home or rental and then take a quick Uber to the beach. This avoids the stress of parking right at peak sunset time.
Spring (March–April)
Spring brings beautiful weather and slightly longer days, making it another popular time for family photos.
Spring break weeks, in particular, are very busy in Naples. Similar to winter, beaches will be crowded at sunset, so planning ahead and choosing the right location is key.
The upside is that the weather is still very comfortable, and sunset times are a bit later, giving you more flexibility in your schedule.
Summer (May–August)
Summer in Naples is hot and humid, with later sunsets and fewer crowds.
One of the biggest advantages of summer sessions is how quiet the beaches can be compared to peak season. If you can handle the heat and later timing, it can be a great time for photos.
Sunset sessions will start later in the evening, sometimes close to 8:30–9:00 PM, which can be a factor for families with younger children.
Fall (September–November)
Fall is often overlooked, but it can be a really great time for family photos in Naples.
It’s important to keep in mind that we live in a tropical environment, so rain is expected; especially in early fall. That said, it rarely rains all evening. Forecasts can change quickly, sometimes hour by hour, so it’s best not to get too focused on the weather days in advance.
Because of this, I typically recommend having a backup date if your schedule allows.
Interestingly, a short rain shower right before your session can actually be a good thing. It can cool down the humidity and often results in fewer people on the beach.
Another advantage of fall is earlier sunsets. As we move past daylight savings, sessions start earlier in the evening, which can make things easier for families with kids.
So When Is the Best Time?
It may sound simple, but the best time for family photos in Naples is often the time that works best for your schedule.
That said, if you’re looking for ideal conditions in terms of weather and timing, I typically recommend planning your session sometime between January and March, after daylight savings.
During this time:
- Temperatures are cooler
- Humidity is lower
- Sunsets happen earlier in the evening
This means you can enjoy your session and still make it to dinner without feeling rushed or too late in the evening.
Morning vs Sunset by Season
The time of day you choose also plays a big role in your experience.
Morning sessions tend to be quieter and more relaxed, while sunset sessions offer that warm, glowing beach light Naples is known for.
