Whether you’re vacationing, living here, or visiting family, one thing everyone agrees on is that the beaches are one of the best parts of Naples, Florida. It’s no surprise that when families start planning photos, the beach is often the first place that comes to mind.
That said, not all beaches in Naples are the same. Each location offers a slightly different experience depending on access, lighting, space, and the type of session you’re planning. Choosing the right beach can make a big difference in how your photos look and how smooth your session feels.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the best beaches in Naples for family photos so you can choose the location that fits your family and your session perfectly.

When recommending a beach for family photos, there are a few key things I always consider to make sure the session feels smooth, relaxed, and enjoyable for everyone.

One of the most important factors is how easy it is to get from the parking area to the beach. This is especially important for families with young children or extended groups. The shorter and simpler the walk, the easier the overall experience will be.
Proximity to Where You’re Staying
I always take into account where a family is staying when choosing a location. If you’re visiting Naples, selecting a beach close to your rental or hotel can make the session feel much more convenient and less rushed.
Parking Availability
Not all beach access points in Naples offer public parking. Some require a Collier County beach pass, while others fill up quickly, especially during peak season and holidays. Choosing a location with reliable parking can make a big difference.
Lighting and Shade
The best time for beach photos is typically the last 20–30 minutes before sunset, when the light is soft and flattering. Earlier in the evening, the sun can be harsh. Because of this, I often recommend locations that have shaded green spaces nearby so we can begin the session in softer light before moving to the beach at the ideal time.
Crowd Levels
During busy seasons, especially winter and holiday weeks, some beaches can become quite crowded at sunset. If you’re hoping for a quieter, more private feel, certain locations offer more space and fewer people.
Best Beaches in Naples for Family Photos
Lowdermilk Park
Lowdermilk Park is one of the best all-around locations for family photos in Naples. It offers a large public parking lot (though it can fill up during peak season), making access relatively easy.
One of the biggest advantages of Lowdermilk is the spacious shaded green area just before the beach. This is especially helpful for extended family sessions or for starting your session in softer light before heading down to the sand. The beach is just steps away, and there are restrooms on site, which can be a huge plus for families with young children.
Vanderbilt Beach
Vanderbilt Beach is a popular choice, especially for families staying in North Naples. It offers a wide shoreline and beautiful sunset views.
Parking is available, but it typically requires a short walk (about 3–5 minutes) to reach the beach. Once there, you may need to walk a bit farther along the shoreline to find a more open and less crowded area, as many visitors tend to gather near the main access points.
One thing to note is that there are limited shaded green spaces nearby, so sessions here are more focused on the beach itself.
Seagate Beach
Seagate Beach is a quieter, more tucked-away option in central Naples. It tends to be less crowded than Lowdermilk or Vanderbilt, largely because parking is more limited.
If you’re considering Seagate, it’s best to arrive early to secure a spot. The beach has a more natural, untouched feel, which works beautifully for relaxed, understated family sessions.
Port Royal Beach
Port Royal is one of the most upscale and pristine areas in Naples. The beach here is consistently beautiful and less crowded than many public access points.
Access can be more limited, you’ll either need to be staying in the Port Royal area or have a Collier County beach pass for certain entrances. Because of its quieter, more refined feel, this location is especially well-suited for smaller families, couples, or engagement sessions.
Naples Pier Area
The Naples Pier area is typically a great option with public parking and easy access. However, the pier is currently under construction, so I would recommend avoiding this location for the time being.
Downtown Naples Beach Access (3rd Street Area)
Downtown Naples offers multiple beach access points, many located just a few blocks from the shoreline. Each street typically has its own parking area, though most require a Collier County beach pass.
If you don’t have a pass, there are still a few good options. You can park at the downtown library and walk to the beach (about a half-mile), or park near Third Street South and walk a few blocks to the nearest access point. Another option is to drop your family off at the beach while one person parks.
One of the reasons I love this area is the variety it offers. The walk to the beach includes beautiful alleyways, greenery, and shaded spots that are perfect for photos before heading onto the sand. Even with the pier under construction, we can easily walk a bit farther down the beach to avoid it in your images.
How to Choose the Right Beach for Your Family
With so many beautiful beaches in Naples, the “best” location really depends on your family, your group size, and the type of session you’re planning.
Families with Young Kids
If you have little ones, choosing a beach with easy access and nearby amenities can make a big difference. Locations like Lowdermilk Park or downtwon Naples are ideal because of the short walk to the sand, available restrooms (lowdermilk or Pier), and shaded areas where we can take breaks if needed.
Extended Families
For larger groups, space and flexibility are key. Beaches with nearby green spaces, like Lowdermilk, allow us to photograph multiple groupings comfortably and keep the session organized without feeling rushed.
Couples & Smaller Families
If you’re looking for a quieter, more intimate setting, beaches like Seagate, Port Royal, downtown Naples offer a more relaxed and less crowded atmosphere. These locations work beautifully for engagement sessions, maternity sessions, or smaller family groups.
Vacationing Families
If you’re visiting Naples or Marco Island, convenience is everything. Choosing a beach close to where you’re staying helps keep the experience stress-free, especially when coordinating around kids, dinner plans, or sunset timing.

Best Time of Day for Beach Photos in Naples
The timing of your session plays a huge role in how your photos look and feel, especially when photographing on the beach.
In Naples, the ideal time for family photos is typically the last 20–30 minutes before sunset. During this window, the sun is lower in the sky and the light becomes soft, warm, and flattering. This is what creates that glowing, natural look you see in many beach images.
Earlier in the evening, the sun can be quite strong and harsh, especially on the open beach where there is little shade. Because of this, I often recommend starting sessions about 60 minutes before sunset. We can use that time to photograph in shaded or partially shaded areas, like nearby greenery or walkways, before moving onto the beach as the light becomes more diffused.
After the sun dips below the horizon, there’s often an additional 10–15 minutes of soft “afterglow” light. This creates beautiful pastel tones in the sky and is one of my favorite moments to capture.
Morning Sessions for Families & Extended Groups
While sunset is the most popular time for beach photos in Naples, morning sessions can be a great option, especially for families with young children or larger extended groups.
Mornings tend to be quieter and less crowded (we may see 5 people total while shooting), which can make the overall experience feel more relaxed. They also work well for families with early risers, allowing you to avoid pushing little ones too close to bedtime.
One of my favorite locations for morning sessions is a beach access point in the Moorings. This area has high-rise condos along the shoreline that provide natural shade for the first 60–90 minutes after sunrise. That shaded light creates a softer, more flattering look while still giving you that clean beach backdrop.
For extended families or families with small kids, this can be an ideal alternative to sunset, offering both beautiful light and a calmer environment.
What to Wear for Beach Family Photos
When choosing outfits for your session, the goal is to keep things simple, coordinated, and comfortable. Soft neutrals and coastal tones tend to photograph beautifully against Naples’ white sand and natural beach colors.
Lightweight fabrics, flowy dresses, and natural textures work especially well in the beach environment. Rather than matching exactly, I always recommend coordinating colors so each person complements one another without looking too uniform.
